Racing Game Upped My Web Skills
Wipeout HD is coming out… soon, I think.
This is pretty much the first race game that I ever fell in love with. Sure there were other greats waaaaaaaaaaay before Wipeout, but the PS1 version was something special: Wipeout XL actually increased my web development skills.
It was all about the typography, and the combination of stylized graphics, font choice, and straight lines.
What I did was I began using their style of design and implementing it into my web development, especially my macromedia flash development.
I ganked with reckless abandon… and I’m happy to see that they still use them in the newest version of Wipeout too. Why drop a good thing?
The sleek, futuristic circuits with even sleeker crafts and weapons of mass destruction… all backed up by a dope soundtrack featuring the like of Crystal Method and more.
I probably dropped a few hundred hours in this game easy… not to mention taking the PS1 disk with me (because you could actually listen to the soundtrack in a CD-Player!)
Can’t do that anymore, can you…!
Crazy.
Anyways, here’s a new clip of the game and some screenies:
