Eating on $25 a Week

Yes ladies and gents… it’s the food pyramid.
I’ve been thinking a lot about food recently because of a number of things… more thoughts after the jump.
The Food List:
- I’m not in the greatest shape. In fact, I completely stopped working out after I got married 3 years-and-some-change ago… I’ve started up again… but… *ugh*. Working on that…
- Thanksgiving is coming up. Enough said, right?
- I’m headed to Korea soon. It is a proven fact that when you travel to korea you get fat. Not because the food is all fatty but because of the sheer volume of carbon-based material that you consume because of it’s “sheer awesomeness” (Kung Fu Panda). I remember back in college when friends would go back to Korea for the summer or for winter break… they grabbed a freshman-15 so fast that it would make your head spin. The food is just that good (and cheap)!
- In addition to the Korea thing… I’m trying to save a little more money here and there to prepare for the extra expenses. If you’d like to read more about this journey, go here and help support me…!
- I read this wickedly cool article about how a few were challenged to live off of $25 bucks a week. But it wasn’t for kicks: $25 bucks is what people in the state Illinois (where the challenge was held) get from food stamps. Wow. In this time of saving (and mass spending) it made me wonder about how others are really coping with the absolute essentials.
