An Audience of One

livebloggingattheorangeconference

I’ve been hanging out at The Orange Conference for the past few days doing ‘stuff’.

It’s always interesting to see what breakouts are sold out, which personalities draw the most crowds, and of course which ones have more empty seats than anything else.

I silent reminder yesterday reminded me that there is one “audience” member in particular that we need really concerned with.

Who are you speaking to? Who’s your audience?

Hey, I grabbed your rss feed yesterday. I really like your site.

I completely agree when it comes to the audience of one thing. I have several non-Christian friends in my head that I visualize while I write my blog. I think of them as my own personal mission and this is a way to speak to them and people like them without preaching at them too much.

I suppose this way of writing works well because I have many non-Christians who read the articles and are very moved by it.

Audience of one can be two quite different things. It could be The One, or it could be just yourself, as in when you're sitting there and finally realize that you're twittering in a vacuum. Regardless, the one thing that seems to be common in both ends of the spectrum is that you still need an audience. Or should I say, you have an audience. Dare to do what you should while you have it!

Argh…I was so disappointed that this year I had to miss out on Orange! THIS year seemed like THE year to be there too :(

Love the thoughts though here. Right on John.
