Creating Posts that Ooze Awesomeness – Part 3
YO.
We’re now on the 3rd Part of a 4 Part Series going through a few basic tips on how to make your blog posts Ooze Awesomeness!
If you’re looking for Part 1 you can check it out here, Part 2 is sitting tight right here.
Alright? Let’s get on to some practicalities.
Part 3 – Practicalities
I’m just going to list out a couple “practical” things that I try to consider when blogging and creating posts. Not all of these will necessarily apply to you, but it’s sometimes good to know about how others do their “thing.” We can all learn from each other!
- Don’t be “dead.” Write like you mean it. Be passionate.
- Ask lots of questions, if appropriate. Engage the audience.
- Challenge the audience. Create tension.
- Call someone out.
- Link to yourself.
- Link to other posts. This creates more hits, visits, and staying power of your blog (and Google likes it).
- Link to others. Do this as much as you can. Give some love!
- Make sure you link to your Twitter, if you’ve got one and when appropriate.
- STOP. Go comment on someone’s blog that’s not your own.
- Ok, come back now.
- Don’t “finish” your post. It’s ok to leave it “hanging.” That’s called a cliffhanger!
- Categories: Use 1. Don’t cross pollinate.
- Tags: Use a lot.
- STOP. Is your blog URL in other places and locations out there? Facebook? In your email? Go put them there.
- Is this blog post “Twitter worthy?” Sometimes it’s ok not to throw it in someone’s face. Don’t “tweet” everything.
- Have fun. Have fun. Have fun.
And… tomorrow, we’ll quickly breeze through Part 4!
