Does Your Blog Charge You For Service Fees?

The Godin rocked an awesome post the other day about the “Cost of Now“.

It’s something that, well, just rocked my face. I encourage you strongly to go read it.

More thoughts after the jump…

smackIn the world of high tech, information overload is only a click away. Creating filters for it are absolutely essential, as well as establishing boundaries for engagement. This is not because it’s unimportant; it’s because you have far better things to do than to simply “stay current.”

You see, I’m a firm believer in that the Holy Spirit has reign over the interwebs. What I mean by that is that He knows what He wants you to see at just the right time.

Ever think about that?

For the longest time when I saw updated news about technology or the latest gizmo and gadget I felt “slow” or “outpaced” or “out of touch”… I felt under enormous pressure to “be in the know” and “stay current”… this self-punishing psychology is detrimental, unhealthy, and quite frankly damning.

It’s also a pointless pursuit. If you need a reminder, check out the book of Ecclesiastes. Yeah, you know where I’m headed with this…

So my question to you is whether the cost is worth your time?  Is your blog servicing you or are you servicing it?  And, again, what’s the cost?  If it’s too high… well… time to do some cutbacks.

Man, that is probably one of the toughest challenges being on the web. Keeping up with all of the updates, new blog posts, new ideas, etc. I always feel one step behind the curve and never able to catch up. Perhaps that is the problem. No one ever is and trying to constantly keep ahead of the curve is just keeping the wool over our eyes.

Great post. Things move so fast sometimes it's hard to keep up. I get that hamster in the wheel feeling a lot.
