I Thank God for Online Video

While I was in Korea I was able to keep in touch easily with a handy webcam and my computer.
I could tell Roenne goodnight each night and make sure she was “behaving”… I could also give updates to the people that matter the most in my life as well as record my thoughts in video-format…
More thoughts after the jump…
But one of the coolest things I did was that I had my 2 sets of parents “meet” each other by using the same technology. Two entire worlds were connected and it’s all due to online video technology.
In the picture above, my birth mother and her extended family was able to meet my adoptive parents “in person”… They had told me earlier that week that they wanted to “thank” my adoptive parents for their great and loving care for the past 3 decades…
Even though we recorded some hi-def “thank you’s” I decided it would probably be best to do it in the real.
It was so worth it. And I thank God for it. Technology is sweet.

Technology for long distance communication has made so much difference. I have a friend in Signapore and another outside of Paris. I make a phone call to a US number and get them both. Virtually no cost. The biggest problem is remembering the time change to call them when they are awake. But my friends that are missionaries say that the internet, video chat and cheap voip services have revolutionized the way that they can interact with their families, recruit short term missionaries and interact with their donors.
very cool!
That photo of your mother cracks me up. Only she (and my fiance) would take a picture of the screen of a computer instead of a screenshot ON the computer.
That is actually something she realized after… hehe. it was super funny.
That is awesome dude. If I could get my family to use technology that would be awesome, because then I could have experiences like that. My family lives in NJ, and FL and yes I miss them. So if I could get them to do that, it would be wicked awesome!
hehe. keep trying.
Digging the sideways deuces thrown out by the girl with the purple jacket. She's cool.
haha. she was cute. she is a hardcore gamer. love it.
