Minority Report is Real!

Minority Report was one of those movies that was, for the geek, pretty freaking cool.

Tom Cruise… eh.  whatever.  But the technology employed was outstanding, and I couldn’t wait for the day for it to be a reality (although the eye-tracking thing was a bit too 1984-ish).

Well, it’s here, or closer.  Check this vid after the break.  It’s crazy.

But it’s gotten me thinking: Really… REALLY why do things like new technology give me such a buzz?  Why do I get all jittery and excited about “the next big thing”?

And… do I get as excited when I open up the Word?

Ouch. Self-pwned.

Ouch, I am in that same boat. I was so geeked out there for a minute I thought I was going to have to reboot my system.

Unfortunately, I do not get as worked up about getting into the Word; however, with that said I will say that it gives me longer peace as I go through my day. It seems cliche, but I really do relax on God's word as I go throughout the day. No amount of fleeting technology can do that for me.

Which comes back to your question: if my previous paragraph is true, why do we get so geeked out about new techs and not as much about diving into the Word. Hmm…

Wow that is awesome, and yes, I got geeked out over Minority Report! Have you seen the new Bond? No cool gadgets this time but there is a geektastic scene where they use similar tech savvy stuff that's fun to watch.

My most favorite geek out moment was visiting my friend who does the tech support for the Baton Rouge Sheriff's office. He was manning their "Command Center" for the LSU vs. BAMA game and I got to go poke around! It's a mobile 'trailer' I suppose. Equipped with some crazy fun stuff. Mostly it's touch screen computers controlling the cameras stationed around campus that can zoom in to see what color eyes you have! hahahaha. It was fun stuff though.

Do they have a digital media Bible? iPhone app? Something geeky and spiritual :)

I will have to check that out. I did a app search for a good "iPhone Bible" but was never really happy with any of them. Checking out youversion.com. Maybe I overlooked it.

So why is that? It is not like I decide to get all excited about tech stuff, I just am. I get excited about God stuff to, but also cause it is "pretty freaking cool". I know at work (IT) I am surrounded by tech geeks all day. Should I feel guilty about getting more of a consistent buzz about tech than I do about God?

Dude you have me confused :( (but not in an entirely bad way).

PS Then I see the OpenID link ant the bottom of the page and get pwnd by your post again.
