The Dell Mini 9 Goes to Korea

The new Dell Mini 9 is coming with me to Korea.

I’ll be blogging, videocapturing, and picture uploading through this super light weight machine.

For those that really care… specs and a post-mortem boxing video after the jump.

The New Dell Mini 9 from John on Vimeo.

It’s black, it’s got the cool Intel Atom CPU, a gig of RAM (will be upgraded to 2 in a bit), running Windows XP SP3, and I did NOT get a webcam with mine.  This is because I already have a nice logitech which can record at a much higher rate with better quality.

Sweet.

Your Dell pails in comparison to my rockin' Asus eee PC… even with its limited usability Xandros distro. Mwhahahaha. :)

Jig-saw jazz and the get-fresh flow
Can't wait to see if you like it
Though I can't imagine going back to windows…

Still have a hard time making justification for it. Would it run Access and Excel (2003 or 2007)? Those are the only two programs that I really have to have. Potentially I could use it for my frequent trips to Chicago and as a couch computer. I have had a 12 in computer and moved up to a 13 in computer. I have played with a 9 inch HP at Costco that I liked. But it would need to be no more than about $350 to justify it. And I need windows.

try experimenting with the different pricing they've got at dell… but also try some other netbooks too.

    thanks for stopping by!

Any thoughts about buying Linux and loading Windows? I have a couple extra Windows licenses. Also did you put in 2 GB of Ram. Specs listed on Dell.com say max of 1 GB.

  17. human3rror November 20, 2008 at 2:41 AM #

2gb is IN the mail. upgrading soon. ;)

What made you decide to get this instead of just using your macbook for your trip?

  21. human3rror November 20, 2008 at 7:20 AM #

i might actually bring both… but portability was the biggest thing.

  22. human3rror November 20, 2008 at 12:14 PM #

Saw on another blog that there are two slots for external memory…can program be loaded on them? That would seem to be really slow.

  24. human3rror November 21, 2008 at 12:18 PM #

hmm. dunno. i've ordered my increase of RAM to 2 gigs… can't wait for the increase…!

  25. human3rror November 21, 2008 at 1:58 PM #
