Official WordPress 2.7 Release Blog Party! from John on Vimeo.
For some reason this video came out all fuzzy and somewhat slurred my speech… BUT WHO CARES?!?

The WordPress 2.7 Release Blog Party is ON!!! Read the notes about the release this Thursday here.

Watch the above video and then comment below that you’re in.

If you’re lazy, here are the rules:

  1. On Thursday, December 4th, download WordPress 2.7 and Install it.
  2. Blog about how freaking awesome WordPress is.
  3. Challenge 1 Non-WP blogger to CONVERT.

Then you will be an official participant in the WP 2.7 Release Blog Party.

Spread the good news and invite your friends.  Drinks and snacks will not be provided.

Sorry.

I'm using 2.6.5, so I guess it'll notify me to auto update soon and all of my friends are already using WP! Who hosts your site? I'm looking for some cheap yet reliable hosting.

  3. human3rror December 3, 2008 at 1:51 AM #

Media Temple = Slower than molasses on their shared GS service. Their VPS service is decent although ridiculously overprices for what you get (base config is $50!!). For the inexperienced I guess it's a great company, esp. with their fast updating 1-click installer (which gets updates 2x faster than any Fantastico/Cpanel host does). As fas as using it for client work or for a site w/ medium-serious traffic? Grab a VPS from somewhere like linode.com or slicehost.com…

  7. human3rror December 3, 2008 at 3:52 AM #

thanks for weighing in… i don't use shared and i don't use VPS. i'm dedicated. i wouldn't recommend MT in any other situation than dedicated.

and yes, i'm paying out the butt for it… but i've been extremely satisfied.

This might be a silly question, but does this apply to all of us? Even those of us not cool enough to do our own hosting?!? I hope it won't be too long. I asked for a domain name for Christmas! HAHA.

  15. djbyron December 3, 2008 at 10:01 AM #

The awesome thing is… Since I'm already on 2.7 (RC1) I can use the new "WordPress Upgrader" to update to the final release in 2 seconds… Literally…

  16. human3rror December 3, 2008 at 11:32 AM #

    It's a CMS. move over. :) i'm serious too, about that…

  17. djbyron December 4, 2008 at 2:32 AM #

The 'upgrader' is HUGE fur me but the fresh admin area is just as big to me. The admin makes so much more sense. You can get to anywhere within the admin in a click or two.

  18. human3rror December 4, 2008 at 2:36 AM #

    hehe. :)

No party yet. Still only WP 2.7 RC. A lot of my users are clueless about RC's so I have to wait a little longer. I guess I may have a pity party for now, but at least the blog post is waiting in the wings when the time comes.

Okay, so WP was late. You cried, I cried, but now it is time to party like it is (was???) 1999. I wrote my post last week in preparation so I figured I might as well use it even if WP is a week late. Haha.

  31. djbyron December 11, 2008 at 6:54 AM #

Female fashion models who work with the designers throughout the season are also in the competition. Each week, as the number of designers dwindle, the number of models are also reduced, with one model remaining at the end. Models are randomly pre-assigned to a designer during the first challenge, and from the second challenge onwards, the designers will have an opportunity to pick the model they wish to work with. This usually happens during the start of every episode save for the first, with the winner of the previous challenge receiving first pick, and the other designers picking models in order through host Klum’s random draw of large red shirt buttons with their names stored in a black velvet bag. Though, there are times when only the winning designer will be given the choice to pick with the following choices: either keep his or her previous model, take the losing designer’s model Project Runway from the last challenge, or switch models with another competing designer
