Year of the Wife – Listening Apparently Works… Really.

listeningworks

I’m almost embarrassed to write about this because it’s so obvious: Listening works.

It always made sense to me but I guess I just didn’t try.  Or, I guess I just didn’t take it seriously.

Quote:

When she is sharing an emotional problem, her feelings and her desire to be heard are much more important than the problem itself.

Yeah…

You’d also have to see the charts that the book provides… incredible.  And even if it was half true, it would still be incredible.  I happen to believe it’s just, simply, true.

For those that like baseball (myself not included) the author goes through  good sporting analogy that is sticking.  I’d encourage you to read it…

Next chapter in the For Men Only book: SEX.

If you keep this up, I am going to have to start calling you man-Oprah. You are making the rest of us look bad…really, really bad.

I had actually forgotten about this book. I remember the first one (I'm one of those lucky guys whose wife bought it). So thanks for the reminder. I ordered it the other day and it arrived yesterday. So I am a few days behind you, but on the same journey.

Alright man, not meant to be rude, but I gotta say it.
If ya'all need a book to tell ya to listen to your wife, that book isn't gonna help ya much. I would venture a guess that the listening skills and desires gained from the book will end in the time it took ya to read it. I mean, come on…wasn't there some sort of vows at the wedding? Honor, comfort, love, faithfulness??? Can't listening slide into one of those categories?
Sorry dude, but I just don't get books like this. I've been married for 8 years, 3 of those years as a Christian, and we've yet to have our first fight. IMHO if I simply do the things I said I would do in the wedding ceremony, I'll never need a book.
That's the beauty of it all though, I suppose. We're not all wired the same! Maybe, just maybe, I'm lucky. Or…..Maybe not.

My problem when I do actively listen is that I want to fix the problem. My book should be here tomorrow from Amazon. Hopefully I can catch up with you on the reading. Haha.
